Lawn Fertilizer Calculator
The three numbers on a fertilizer bag are the percent by weight of nitrogen, phosphate, and potash. Lawn feeding is dosed in pounds of actual nitrogen per 1,000 square feet; the standard single application is about three quarters of a pound to one pound of N.
Timing beats quantity: feeding a cool-season lawn in summer heat or a dormant warm-season lawn wastes product and feeds weeds. The lawn care calendar has the windows for both.
